We are looking for an expert with three.js and Aframe who can help us create a specific Unreal Bloom Glow effect on an existing glb object. This is for an augmented reality experience so it must ultimately work with 8th wall.
For the proof of concept phase you can work locally or in codesandbox.io (or similar) but for integration we can provide you codebase access. It must work in the existing codebase with 8th wall in AR.
The requirements:
Please see attached brief, the box has an animation that looks like something is inside it. The idea is the box should appear to be bursting with light so we’d like to use animated god rays and/or unreal bloom glow effects to achieve this. We are open to other ways to achieve it including baking the lights into the object
We would like 3 particle effects. One is small glowing orbs emanating from under the lid of the box and hovering in space before decaying. The second is a confetti explosion effect at the center of the box once the opening animation is done. The other (may not be needed) is light snow in the scene.
We are looking to see a prototype today if possible then work on integration into our existing AR experience.
Pricing is flexible, we are looking for an expert who can get this work done ASAP but it must be done properly and it must work when integrated.

Bloom and other post process like godrays are especially tricky in the context of VR/AR.
In AR because many post effects don’t handle transparent canvases showing through to the AR camera view… In VR, because many post process effects only work well from a single viewpoint, and shifting the viewpoint to 2 camera views can produce sensory conflict in users.
I don’t know that I’ve ever seen bloom done well in VR.
I think an effect like this gift box is best done by an artist modelling the animation in Blender, and simply playing back the animation in threejs. The sprites and particles would be implemented with additive blending sprites.
Hi. I can make light effect as like the above image.
I am three.js expert with 7+ years.
I have expensive experiences with light effect, ambiguity effect using three.js and R3F.
I can satisfy all your requirement.
Kind regards.
Yeah bloom has proven super challenging to get right in AR. The performance of it is also a thing, we’re running the AR CV model, a second CV model for object detection and then doing this animation on top of that. It is a tough one for sure.
Hi @ero2024, how are you? Not sure if you’re still looking for someone for this project, but let me introduce myself in case you are. (:
I’m a webXR developer with experience working with A-Frame and Three.JS among other frameworks/technologies. As you can see on the images attached, I have already created bloom effects inside Three.JS for AR web experiences. The only difference is that I have always used pure A-Frame instead of 8th wall’s.
You can check out some of the past projects I worked on at my website, along with a few examples - including the one on the images. Just go to https://danonimob.com.br
I have just finished a 3 months project for another client, so I’ll soon be adding them to the website as well as posting some more webXR demos.
On my website you will find every option available to contact me, but I’ll leave my email here as well: danmartinspr@gmail.com
