N8ao causing circular artefacts in the sky

I’m getting strange circular banding/artefacts in the sky whenever n8ao is enabled. Everything else in the scene looks fine, but the sky dome shows these repeated rings.
sky dome is a sphere mesh

im just using simple EffectComposer & N8AO in RTF

To exclude objects from the N8AOPass , set the object’s userData.contributeToAO property to false .
