Zafiro - early Three.js world-creation prototype (2024)

Update — July 2026

This thread documents an early Zafiro prototype shared in October 2024. The screenshots below are kept for historical context and no longer represent the current state of the project.

The closest continuation of the world-building direction shown here is Isle Lab, a browser-based island scene editor.

The original 2024 demo links are no longer available, so I removed them to avoid confusion. I’m keeping the original text and images below as a record of where the project started.

I wanted to share a sneak peek of what I’ve been creating recently. :glowing_star: I’m building a large open world with dynamically generated terrains and realistic weather effects. :cloud_with_rain::sun_with_face: In the screenshot, you can see my early prototype – a swamp! :deciduous_tree::droplet:

and here is a game - Diamond Collector: an adventurous 3D journey where players explore, collect sparkling diamonds, and uncover hidden treasures within vibrant landscapes.

WooooooooooooooooW! World Generation? You’ve got to be kidding me!

You need to fix your UI, the only way to access the links (in Chrome on Mac) is to use the dev console and click them in the elements panel.
I checked out the swamp example, looks promising, but the performance is way too bad to get an enjoyable experience (I’m getting maybe 1FPS)

Thank you so much for the feedback! I’m actively working on improvements, and this is still an early prototype, so there’s a lot of work ahead. Some issues may unfortunately pop up at this stage, but I’ll be working intensively to resolve them.

Unfortunately I haven’t been able to replicate the UI problem despite testing on a MacBook Pro 2019, Lenovo P50, and MacBook Pro 2023, but here’s how it looks on my end (screenshot below) for reference.

Your feedback is incredibly valuable to me, and I really appreciate it—it helps me keep improving the experience!
