Rotation InstancedMesh

Updated a little fiddle to show my issue

In this fiddle the mesh will be rotated on the y axes. But the strange thing is that when setting the position of the instances on the X will not set them in this direction.

If the mesh is not rotated but the instance (dummy) is then the position works as expexted.

Is this by design ? the older version i worked with did not do this.
