I am desperately trying to recreate a cat eye effect varnish like it is used in nail polish or on bank notes. So far I have tried combining normal maps for the sparcle and the “direction” of the particles as well as iridescence and iridescence thickness maps but no matter what i do, I cannot achieve the “moving” or “rolling” wave effect of it. I have not yet tried anistropy as I have never used it before and wouldn’t even know how to use it. Does anybody have an idea how to achieve this effect?
the best I got so far is this example:
Achieved trough iridescene thickness maps, and different specular colors. But the problem is that the iridescence adds the rainbow colors which I dont want. It mimics a holographic film, which is great, but not correct for this use. And also the waves are not “rolling” when turning/rotating the object.
