The Population Globe is an interactive 3D visualization of where humanity actually lives, and how lopsided that turns out to be: 87% of us live north of the equator.
Spin a rotating Earth dotted with ~330 glowing, population-scaled cities, watch a real-time day/night terminator sweep across the planet, and explore the Valeriepieris circle: a ring roughly 3,300 km wide in Asia that holds more people inside it than the entire rest of the world. Tap any city for its population and live local time, or run the animated latitude sweep to watch the population counter climb.
Built with Three.js, it works on any phone or desktop browser, and the whole thing ships as a single HTML file.
