I built The Planet Thinks — a realistic day/night Earth where every spark is a Wikipedia edit happening right now, drawn where its subject is on the globe, across ~300 language editions. https://theplanetthinks.com
Tech: three.js + globe.gl, a custom day/night shader with a live sunset terminator, UnrealBloom for the sparks, ember-fading markers, and NASA Blue/Black-Marble textures. Data is one connection to the Wikimedia EventStreams firehose (recentchange). There’s a second mode, /photos, that blooms freshly uploaded Wikimedia Commons photos where they were taken.

Update: the /photos view now has a full-screen cinematic mode — The Planet Thinks — Photos: Watch the World Being Photographed, Live on a 3D Globe — the photo blooms where it was taken and the shot itself shows, so it works as a calm ambient screensaver / OBS “be right back” background.
