At ID8R, we’re on a mission to build an intuitive, powerful platform that empowers brands to effortlessly create stunning 3D content from their 2D brand assets. We’re building the go-to tool for creating professional-quality 3D designs for social media, websites, and marketing content.
We’re seeking a passionate, mid to senior-level 3D software engineer to join as our third cofounder and Chief 3D Officer. The role starts with equity-only remuneration.
We’re looking for someone with:
Strong experience with Three.js and React Three Fiber
Strong knowledge of 3D graphics principles (modeling, texturing, lighting, animation)
Frontend development skills (Next.js, React, CSS, Canvas, HTML)
Our initial focus has been on web3/NFT brands, but we’re excited about broadening the appeal of our product to brands in other industries that could benefit from eye-catching 3D content.
We’ve got an MVP and early revenue under our belt. A 3D feature we built attracted the most interest, so we’re looking to double down on this with an engineer who has a passion for 3D technology and cutting-edge experimentation.
Despite the progress we’ve made, we’re open to an equal equity split with comparable effort/input to the existing two founders (one technical).
We believe building this product could be incredibly rewarding for an entrepreneurial 3D software engineer who wants to see their 3D designs come to life on social media, with potential applications for millions of content creators.
Interested? Questions? Drop a comment here, or reach out directly via email (joseph@id8r.com) or Discord (joseph_au). Please include some details about your 3D experience/portfolio when you get in touch.
That’s exactly what I see, my friend… But it is clearly stated in the offer: We’re looking for a business partner and peer, not an employee. And the "paid/unpaid" terminology is reserved for contracts based on an employment relationship.
I’m just reading the offer my friend. I understand what you mean… I also understand that there are probably a lot of young people entering the market here on the forum. But the author of the post clearly articulated his needs and conditions. It’s done exactly the same way in various startups. They are looking for business partners because there is no revenue yet. In this type of relationship, if someone is interested in them, they can contribute their own capital, and if they do not have it and are still interested, they can invest… themselves. The issue of risk associated with this is a topic for another conversation…
Thanks for the input manthrax, I completely understand where you are coming from and it’s a valid perspective.
Perhaps it won’t attract the talent we need, but I can only try , and I already have some intro meetings booked next week with keen and skilled applicants.
We are looking for a cofounder and prepared to offer an equal share of the business for someone who can put in comparable effort. It’s not “a job”. We are looking for an entrepreneurial business partner with a specific skill set that rounds out the team. We have a small amount of revenue, but it is as stated “early”, and not enough to pay any founding member of the team a salary. I am still personally funding operational costs out of my own pocket.
This is a risk/reward play, the sort that many startup founders take. You risk the time that you may have been earning an hourly rate from an employer for the opportunity to build something personally meaningful, that you are ultimately helping to direct, and which has a chance (albeit very small on average) of very substantial impact and pay off in the future. Founding a startup is not for everyone and that’s okay!
Think about this for a minute though. There are millions of businesses/brands out there who don’t have the resources to hire a 3D artist or developer to create engaging 3D social media content. There are tools out there that can be leveraged (Spline, etc), but most are really a way for a 3D designer to accelerate their work and collaborate. I think there is a huge opportunity to build something that any content creator can leverage and we are looking for a 3D developer with the time (I get it! Many of the best creatives and have their own thing going on), vision alignment, and interest to collaborate and build with us.
C’monnnn… You’re a great guy with a lot of knowledge… Please don’t go this way… Somewhere in the back of my mind I suspected that you might raise this argument. But there is no category of business relations… Here is only job. I don’t see anything wrong with the author trying here, he clearly described the offer without any veiled guile.
