We’re looking for an experienced Three.js or WebGL developer to build a real-time, browser-based 3D product configurator.
This isn’t a demo or a simple 360° viewer. we need someone with real production experience building interactive 3D experiences optimized for both web and mobile. Performance, load speed, responsiveness, and smooth interaction all matter and will be tested.
I’ll handle the 3D model preparation on my end. Your main focus will be building the configurator itself: scene setup, model loading, camera controls, material/texture switching, UI integration, performance optimization, and getting the experience production-ready.
What we need:
Strong experience with Three.js, WebGL, or Babylon.js
Real production experience, not just experimental demos
Experience optimizing GLB/GLTF models for browser and mobile performance
Ability to build smooth camera controls, lighting, materials, and scene setup
Experience with texture/material switching and configurable product options
Solid understanding of frontend integration, preferably React or Next.js
Comfortable working with provided 3D assets and advising on asset requirements
Clean, maintainable code and clear comm
unication
Nice to have:
Experience building vehicle, furniture, architecture, or product configurators
Experience with environment lighting, realistic materials, and mobile optimization
Shopify or CMS integration experience (a plus, not required)
Product direction and 3D model prep are already handled on our side — we just need someone who can build a polished, fast, scalable configurator that holds up in real-world use.

Examples of production Three.js/WebGL configurators or interactive 3D work you’ve built
How you typically approach web/mobile performance optimization
Hi Danny, Thanks for sharing the job posting. I’m a Senior Software / Web 3D Engineer with 11+ years of experience building production-grade web apps and interactive frontend experiences. I think this project sounds very aligned with my background.
Could you reach me at jru.stackdev@gmail.com? I’d be happy to share my resume, recent work, and a proposal for the configurator.
Thank you, and I look forward to speaking with you.
Hello, take a look at my latest work(almost 2 years of development from early beginning to final product) - https://drawhome.com/
Let me know it you are still looking for developer and interested.
Your configurator brief matches production work I’ve shipped. I build browser-based 3D experiences with Three.js, focusing on performance, clean scene architecture, and mobile optimisation, not demos.
Relevant experience:
Regan Harney Shopify Hydrogen 3D watch configurator
Three.js, GLB loading, material/texture switching, camera controls, Shopify/Hydrogen integration.
Dutch van camper 3D vehicle configurator (Blender to GLB pipeline, dynamic part swapping, lighting setup)
GLB/GLTF optimisation: DRACO compression, texture atlasing, LOD, instancing where appropriate.
Bitaverse beta
Browser-based multiplayer 3D world (Babylon.js + Colyseus, DRACO-compressed GLB pipeline, real-time state sync, avatar spawning.
My approach to mobile performance: aggressive draw call reduction, frozen matrices for static objects, texture compression, and lazy asset streaming. I treat frame budgets seriously.
I’m comfortable with React/Next.js frontend integration and can advise on asset requirements from the 3D modeling side (Blender workflow).
