Hi Three community,
My name’s Aidan Newsome. I’m a 3D artist and former architect. For the past year I’ve been working hard on a headless 3D mesh editor built in TypeScript with an optional React frontend (either you can do batteries included or make your own components against the headless editor). You could also if you want completely do the frontend in another framework, but our examples and batteries included and plugin system is all React.
This project is heavily inspired by tldraw. Our goal has been to create an SDK that people in AEC can use to implement their own internal and external tools. This is an alternative to building plugins for existing software like BIM, Rhino or handrolling everything from scratch everytime you want a new vibe coded tool. It also has been built thinking about an agent first approach so pretty much everything in the editor can be done via MCP or an in-app agent loop. A lot of time has been spent on getting the hard parts of this right so things like a selection system, an object editing system, an outliner, materials, controls, UV editor, loaders, exporters, fine-grained reactivity, multiplayer, history to name a few of the concepts. Everything is well documented so you wouldn’t be going in blind. In addition to tldraw a lot of the Three functionality has been influenced by the official Three editor, Kokraf, and Drei.
I haven’t publicly launched the project, but soon, and in the meantime I’m looking for a freelance developer in order to help me get it to the finish (or start line) as my hope is it will grow into a more longterm thing if successful.
If you’re interested please reach out to me on LinkedIn or comment below with your GitHub or any thing you have to show your work and I’d be happy to set up a call where we can discuss more details about the project and compensation and all that.
Thanks Three community,
A
