I ran a small chicken-feet restaurant in Seongnam, Korea for 1,330 days and closed it on 27 September. Instead of a goodbye post I built an archive site for it, and two parts of it run on three.js.
DJDB here: the shop at night
- Modelled and light-baked in Blender (the sign, the street lamps and the window glow are all baked)
- Split into pieces and compressed with meshopt, about 4.7MB in total
- Loaded only when someone opens it; on a phone it stays at night to keep it light
Again Sign: the shop’s sign, as something to hit
- Tap a letter to knock it off, hold to wind up a bigger hit. The brick band and the piers break with it, and the eave comes down when the piers go
- Then the whole thing winds itself back, the wall laying itself up from the bottom before the sign clicks into place with a “dang”
- Fully wrecked it is a few thousand bricks, and the rewind still holds about 60 fps on a laptop
Both live under Play: DJDB | Daejang Dakbal Archive
Happy to answer anything about the bake, the loading or the rewind.
