Roadarium is a browser driving simulator built with three.js from OpenStreetMap data. It has 119 real cities, including London, New York, Paris, Tokyo and Kyiv, with traffic, trams and pedestrians that follow each country’s rules, on the left or the right.
No install and no sign-up. It runs on desktop and on phones.
A note on how it was made: the code was written by AI coding agents, while I directed and tested it. So I can’t go deep on implementation details, but I thought it might be fun to drive around your own city.
Sure, it allows us to add many more labels for cities in the app, which are primarily in America and Europe. As a result, it scales down the rest of the world a bit, so, for example, Greenland doesn’t occupy the same area as it does on a regular map.
Yes, the app focuses more on skill than on score because it’s less of a game and more of an instructional app. You may be a great driver in your own city but still make many mistakes in another country with its own rules and roads, especially if people drive on the opposite side of the road.
Hi! I’m having a problem with Roadarium on my Google Pixel 10.
The entire 3D world is completely white from the beginning. The car controls and navigation UI are visible, but no roads or scenery appear.
I’ve tried Chrome, Firefox, and Samsung Internet, and the problem occurs in all three browsers. I also tested WebGL 2, and the test says my browser supports it. My Android system and Google Play system are fully up to date.
I’ve also tried different cities, including Rostock and Berlin, but the issue remains the same.
Could this be a compatibility issue with my phone’s GPU, or is there a way to fix it?
Hi Julian, it’s hard to say. I just checked on an iPad, and it seems to be working. I guess it’s because of high RAM usage. I would recommend trying the app on a laptop with a decent GPU. Because it’s browser-based, there aren’t many things I can do to improve it, unfortunately. I already spent a lot of time with Claude trying to make it faster on phones
Hi, thanks! That’s an interesting request. Why would you want to do that? Is it just for the visual change, or for different car dynamics? I plan to add different types of cars with different behaviors soon, but that will involve about two to three new passenger cars.
