Hi everyone. Today I’m introducing Earth in creative mode with NOOKS.
Toronto in the NOOKS public preview.
Real geographic data becomes block worlds you can explore in your browser. The public preview displays four cities: Toronto, New York, San Francisco and Paris.
Buildings, streets, terrain and water are reconstructed from geographic sources, including OpenStreetMap. You can change the time of day, see local weather and explore beneath the real sky for that place. The renderer is built with three.js.
The core idea is that working with a real place should feel as approachable as building with blocks. Geography becomes a starting point for making things: reworking a neighbourhood, building a diorama or using a familiar place to teach something new.
The current public preview is for exploration; editing and multiplayer are not enabled yet.
Try it: https://nooks.place/
I’d love feedback from other builders on navigation, visual readability and how it runs on your device.
