Ganges Sands: a Diamond Sutra-inspired particle meditation in Three.js

Ganges Sands

a01

Hi everyone,

I’d like to share Ganges Sands, an interactive WebGL experiment inspired by the Diamond Sutra’s imagery of the sands of the Ganges.

The scene begins as a field of golden particles, gathers into meditative forms and the AUSTENSOR wordmark, then disperses again. It was built with Three.js and React Three Fiber, with an adaptive particle count to accommodate different devices.

Live demo: https://www.austensor.com/page1

On my desktop, Google Lighthouse reported a Performance score of 100/100:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600 6-Core Processor (3.80 GHz)

  • Memory: 32 GB RAM
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti (8 GB)

The project has also received Orpetron SOTD , theFWA 80 and CSSDA special kudos.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the particle work, visual direction, and performance.

Regards,
