DAFT PUNK: a music video for Giorgio by Moroder that runs in the browser

Giorgio by Moroder never got a music video, so I made one in three.js. It plays live in the browser, and you can play along.

What’s in it:

  • Both helmets are built in code, no 3D models: Thomas’s chrome with the faceted visor, Guy’s gold with the LED glass and the rainbow ear fans. The suits, gloves and the whole DJ desk too.
  • A live cube map, so every light that fires on the beat lands on the chrome and the gold. Mirror floor, UnrealBloom and a small grade pass on top.
  • The intro follows the record: through Moroder’s monologue the room stays dark and Thomas’s visor picks out what he’s talking about, then everything comes on with the bassline at 1:52.
  • A playable launchpad (8×4 clips, WebAudio synth). Thomas presses the pads you press, and Guy plays the keys you type (A to L).
  • A camera that cuts between close-ups like a music video; V for a new angle.

Best in Chrome on a computer, sound on. The album plays from the official YouTube upload.

UI in SvelteKit + Svelte 5. I made it in about 24 hours, pairing with Claude (Opus 5.5).
