live/jam: 3D music devices that light up as you play

live/jam is a free browser studio where up to four people jam together. The three instruments (chords, keys and drum pads) are procedural Three.js models on one grid: brushed aluminum, a screen under glass with a live oscilloscope, and keys that glow in the color of each note and fade slowly. It renders with WebGPU and falls back to WebGL 2.

Nice! Runs fine on my macbook + brave browser.

Some unsolicited thoughts:

  1. it would be better if everything fit inside the window, like in a standalone app, without scrolling
  2. recording was hard to wrap my head around, the metronome is not in sync with the pattern and overall hard to get a good result.
  3. consider making the sound settings part of the 3d instrument, that would feel more immersive IMO
