Alan Wake 2 inspired interactive longread - flashlight cursor, WebGL scroll effects

Hi everyone

I’m a product designer from Ukraine. This is a personal project - an
interactive longread inspired by the game Alan Wake 2.

Live: https://alanwake.fun/

The idea was to translate the game’s core mechanic into a web page.
In the game, darkness hides information and your flashlight reveals it.
So on the site the cursor works as a flashlight: part of the content
is hidden until you point the light at it.

What’s inside:

  • Flashlight cursor that reveals hidden text
  • Investigation board with pinned notes, red threads and polaroids
  • A typewriter-style manuscript form: you ask Alan Wake a question
    and get a written answer
  • Two parallel story lines that overwrite each other on scroll
  • Scroll-driven focus transitions (blur / brightness) between cards

Built with Three.js and GSAP.

Would be glad to hear feedback, especially on performance and
on the scroll behaviour.

Note: this is a non-commercial fan project. Alan Wake 2 and all related
assets belong to Remedy Entertainment.
