I keep getting a complaint that PlaneGeometries are not rendering as expected and not showing “3D” in WebXR on Quest. When overlayed on a video texture background there is focus and “double vision” issues depending on its z position. It’s hard to focus on both. I found bringing the mesh closer away from the video seem to focus better. But concerned there is an underlying issue nobody can see yet,
Simple plane bars over the top of video textures. These use native media layers.
real world example. Press the controller trigger to bring up a video controlbar. It may show problem or not with the video texture underneath and focusing.
They claim plane objects from an aframe demo is showing “3D” and doesn’t have the same focus issues.
FYI: the first two links did not work in XR in an Oculus Quest 2 (now Meta Quest 2). When I try to enter XR session the browser just flashes and immediately reverts back to non-XR mode. Maybe there is some software or hardware issue preventing the Quest 2 that I tried to open XR session.
There is a bug with the webgpurenderer using multiview it will flash with video textures. But those demos use native media layers so shouldnt flash ? Is it still flashing ? Ive disabled multiview on them for now
The problem is also in the integration. The controlbar when visible , the meshes may not be rendering in XR correctly and hard to focus on them like the planegeometry bars with the video behind it. “double vision” is mentioned. Is it hard to focus on the controlbar ?
They claim the aframe demo the plane meshes which make up the image menus is showing “3D” and correctly for left and right eye. But threejs is not. In threejs hoth eyes display the meshes in the same position in world view and I believe is projected 3D by the headset.
That is concerning. Does this crash on you ? It’s my native media layer integration into threejs still yet to be merged, There is different modes to try,
This is also using native media layers by default. Does this crash or does the meshes and controlbar display correctly without focus issues over the video background ?
The mountain climbing video is shown in 3D. Clicking on controller’s buttons closes the screen, it stays black for 4-5 seconds then the browser comes up again, but in non-VR mode.
The previous demos (which did not started earlier), now show something. One of them shows beach and waves video with a stripe of white and gray + a circle behind the stripe. Pressing buttons does nothing. The video is somewhat low resolution (at least lower than the mountain). I did not find anything that I’d describe as focus issues. The other demo shows only the stripe, without ocean video. Pressing buttons did not change anything.
