Hush Gallery — a meditative 3D art museum

Hi all! Sharing Hush, a virtual museum I’ve been building solo — 3D halls for public-domain masterpieces: Van Gogh landscapes, and classical Chinese handscrolls displayed as the long horizontal journeys they were meant to be.

When you click on the paintings, you can then zoom in by hitting + key to check out the details - brushstroke, etc. It’s not a fancy app. But I do want the rooms to be more interesting and psychedelic in the near future.

some great paintings here. its like going back in time. I hope you add some more great artists.

I’ll add a new exhibition on the first of every month. The August 1 exhibition, Becoming Vincent, will feature more than 100 Van Gogh paintings in ultra-high resolution, accompanied by a guided tour.

This is a beautiful gallery - it has a really strong atmosphere, and visually it works extremely well. As someone who paints, I’m a big fan of projects like this, and I really like the way the artworks are presented here.

The only thing that might discourage some visitors is the initial loading time. It could be worth considering some form of lazy or progressive loading, so that the first room becomes accessible while the remaining assets continue loading in the background.

Other than that, I think it looks fantastic - very immersive and full of character.
