I’ve created a website called Brickio.com where you can generate and order customized LEGO models of names.

You can type in whatever name you want in a pixellated font, then choose the colours you like, then it’ll generate a three.js model of it, and if you want you can order the bricks and build it.

Are the gaps in the presentation intentional?

To make the individual bricks visible, I think it would be better to work with slightly different colored lines. Or am I wrong?

Yes, those gaps are intentional. It’s an accurate representation of the gaps that exist between real LEGO bricks.
