BIM-Appetizer RUMMZ

Hello everyone!

I’d like to showcase my not‑so‑exciting card game rummz.de — it’s actually about drill cores. You can enter geotechnical layer data, visualize it with three.js, and download the result as an IFC4 file. So yes, it’s not really a card game. I’m using a gamification approach to help my colleagues get in touch with BIM as easily as possible.

The code is open source, including the hardcoded IFC generation. Once I understood the IFC schema for this geotechnical part, it became surprisingly straightforward.

Back in 2024, I was sitting in my office with a very expensive offer for a BIM ground model in my hands. I thought: I can build this myself. And after two years of thinking, coding, and progressing step by step in my free time, the app is now in a usable state.

Of course, the app can’t replace professional BIM software. But it can help people get familiar with 3D, dashboards, and live analytics, lowering the barrier to entry. It also prepares users for higher‑end tools later on.

Three.js is amazing — love you all

PS: By the way RUMMZ stands for Rapid Underground Material Modeling and Zoning
