Note: This is a purely unofficial, sci-fi themed indie game inspired by Mars exploration. It is not affiliated with any official space agency.
Hi everyone,
We are an indie team building Mars Digger 3D, a voxel-based Mars survival game (think Minecraft digging + deadly Martian sandstorms).
Current Status: We have a fully playable prototype built with Three.js. (Movement, digging, sandstorm mechanics, health system are all working). We have a dedicated Godot programmer working on the full desktop/mobile version. We have successfully recruited a Three.js/Shader artist and a Sound Designer.
What we need from the Three.js community:
We want to polish the Web version as a free playable demo. We need:
Voxel/3D Artist (Blender/glTF): To design simple blocky models (robot, Mars terrain) and export as glTF.
UI/UX Designer: To polish the game interface (HUD, menus).
You don’t need to work on the Godot version at all. Just help us make the Web Demo look awesome!
About us: We are based in China, working on this project during our spare time (1-3 hours/day). We love space exploration and sci-fi. We are doing this as an unpaid hobby project to build our portfolios, with potential revenue sharing if the game ever makes money.
If you’re interested, reply here or DM me. Let’s build something cool together.
Hi there, this is Franky from Hong Kong and I’m pretty interested in your project! I speak some Chinese too. I’m a fullstack dev turned creative developer specializing in three.js, and have 10 years of web dev experience. Here’s some of my recent three.js work and my portfolio site(not the most updated)
Update:
Thanks everyone! We have already recruited a Godot programmer, a Three.js/Shader artist, and a Sound Designer.
Now we are only looking for Voxel Artist (Blender/glTF) and UI/UX Designer.
If you are interested, please reply here or DM me!
Thanks Ranao! We are looking for a Voxel/3D Artist or UI Designer. Are you interested in joining us? If you have a portfolio or some previous works, feel free to share! We are an unpaid hobby team, building our portfolios.
Thanks for stopping by! Our current demo is strictly voxel-based, so we don’t have plans to change the art style right now. But open world tech is super cool. Feel free to share your works or just keep in touch!
Thanks Ranao! I really appreciate the pointer to Trigger Rally’s Cannon.js implementation.
We are currently fully focused on polishing our voxel demo. But I will definitely keep this “terrain builder + desert physics” reference in mind for our future map expansion and physics optimization. Thanks for sharing these insights!
Update:
Thanks for all the support! Our Web demo just got a massive upgrade.
Map expanded to 1024x1024 (open-world voxel terrain) Added heavy Martian sandstorm fog (looks awesome) Improved terrain generation (canyons, distant mountains)
We are still looking for:
Voxel/3D Artist (Blender/glTF) to design blocky robots and Mars terrain. (We use glTF, so the models will work perfectly in both our Web and Godot versions!)
UI/UX Designer to polish the game interface.
Pure unpaid hobby project to build our portfolios. We mainly need help on the Three.js side for now, but the assets you create will be shared across our entire game project.
