Early Development — Three.js Market (working name)
Hey everyone ![]()
I’ve been working on a project for the Three.js ecosystem that I’ve wanted to build for a while.
For now I’m calling it Three.js Market, but that’s only a working/placeholder name — the official name and branding haven’t been decided yet.
I’m still in early development, but I wanted to share a few screenshots and give you a look at what I’m building.
WHAT IS IT?
The idea is to create a central place to discover, explore, save and eventually manage Three.js resources from across the web.
Things like:
3D Models
Materials & Textures
HDRIs & Environments
Shaders
Three.js / npm Libraries
Components & Systems
Developer Tools
Templates & Starters
Animations
Audio
Examples & Projects
The goal is not to take resources away from their original creators.
The platform is designed around discovering resources, linking back to the original source/provider, respecting licensing, and making it easier to find what you need.
PLATFORMS / PROVIDERS
The first integrations I’m working with include:
GitHub
→ Repositories, source code and developer resources
npm
→ JavaScript/TypeScript packages and Three.js libraries
Sketchfab
→ 3D model discovery and user-authorized functionality
Poly Haven
→ Models, HDRIs, textures and other CC0 resources
BlenderKit
→ 3D asset discovery and Blender ecosystem integration
I’m also looking at more providers and platforms as development continues.
ACCOUNTS & LIBRARY
The account system is being built around more than simply signing in.
The plan includes:
• Personal resource Library
• Provider account connections
• OAuth authentication
• Developer/creator profiles
• Verified ownership claims
• Claimed resource management
• Real resource/creator analytics
• Desktop/agent integration
• Eventually, creator distribution and marketplace functionality
Ownership claims will require actual verification that someone controls the resource, rather than simply asking users to confirm that they own it.
MARKETPLACE — LATER
The marketplace side is not the current focus.
The first priority is building the discovery, provider, account, Library and developer infrastructure properly.
Eventually, creators will be able to choose whether they want to distribute and/or sell resources through the platform.
The idea is that the creator keeps ownership of their work, while the platform takes a small cut only when something is actually sold.
VERY EARLY
There’s still a lot of development left to do.
I’m currently working through things like:
• Provider integrations
• Authentication & OAuth
• Library infrastructure
• Ownership verification
• Developer tools
• Security
• Desktop/agent workflows
• Browser/extension possibilities
• Marketplace infrastructure for later
So these screenshots are an early look at the direction, not the finished product.
I’m currently aiming for something to be ready in the coming months, depending on how development progresses.
I’ll share more as things get further along.
Thanks for taking a look, and I appreciate any feedback as development continues.
