Tests for SoftwareRenderer

Are there any tests for the SoftwareRenderer? And where can I find them?

Yes I found those, but I was looking for a set of unit tests.

I just wanted to be sure there are none before I start building some myself.

There are no unit tests for this renderer.

Is there a text or a paper the renderer is based on? I figured out some of the principles already, but some more info would be great.
