Can a nicer-looking default (or at least an easy-to-set option to select blur type) for background blur be provided?
Here’s the default built-in mip-based blur for scene.background when scene.backgroundBlurriness is applied:
Here’s a custom triangle blur that looks a lot better:
Maybe pre-blur it in photoshop w a nice gaussian blur? ( or photopea.com ! )

That’s not dynamic, way too much effort to repeat every time. I want to specify blur amount at runtime.
backgroundBlurriness already does it, it just doesn’t look very nice.
Example with Lume elements:
<lume-scene id="scene1" background="foo.jpg" background-blur="0.01"></lume-scene>
<lume-scene id="scene2" background="foo.jpg" background-blur="0.02"></lume-scene>
I currently define a custom scene.backgroundNode and also add blur to env via scene.environmentNode.
Here is one very bad version with a sphere, not background. It uses dynamic blurring, but it fails at the edges. I’m too tired now to write example with safety border around the texture, so blurring works fine. But still, this is good looking dynamic blurring.
