Added support for octahedral impostors.
Had this on the backburner for a while.

Single quad, 1024x1024 texture resolution

The intention, of course, is to serve as an LoD and not to be viewed up-close

The bake happens in-engine and is fully runtime capable.

Bake includes full G-buffer: normals, ORM, albedo, depth

Bake parameters:
atlas texture resolution - how big is the overall texture, here it’s 1024
grid resolution - how many individual projection views we bake, here it’s 16x16
bake mode - full octahedral or hemioctahedral. Hemioct is missing the bottom projection views, but gives you about 2x resolution elsewhere

Here’s a sample bake with just 6x6 grid to help illustrate how it works

I [wrote a little](https://discourse.threejs.org/t/a-forest-of-octahedral-impostors/85735/2) on this before.

Also, fyi - the engine is alive and well, just continues as proprietary engine. I’m in the process of drafting a free license for it, but basically - if you’re not making an engine yourself, and you’re under $50k revenue per year - it’s free, actual license to follow hopefully sometime in the next 2 weeks.

Distribution is still via NPM: [https://www.npmjs.com/package/@woosh/meep-engine](https://www.npmjs.com/package/@woosh/meep-engine)

I update it fairly frequently

And it’s got a pretty good quality standard with \> 4,500 unit tests

Last, but not least, the engine is, in fact, successfully used in production in a number of commercial projects, some pretty big ones that you would probably be surprised about 😅
