From bloodstream to molecule: an interactive T-DM1 explanation in Three.js

Hi, I’m James, founder of cellular stories. We built an interactive Three.js explanation that follows T-DM1 from the bloodstream into a HER2-positive cancer cell, then connects the mechanism to the clinical evidence.

Here is the film made from the visual experience:

Try the interactive version, without signing in:

The interface uses React and TypeScript with Three.js/WebGL, chapter navigation, camera transitions and an inspection view. Instancing helps with repeated objects across the scenes. The design challenge was keeping the transition from anatomy to tissue, cells and molecules understandable while giving visitors control of the explanation.

This is an authored scientific visualization, not a predictive biological simulation. The clinical claims are supported separately by references. It’s an independent educational demonstration, not manufacturer-commissioned work.

We also made a RAS example showing the daraxonrasib–cyclophilin A–RAS complex. It is available alongside T-DM1 at https://cellularstories.com/.

I’d appreciate feedback on the navigation and whether the changes in scale remain easy to follow, especially on mobile.
